Provides sanctuary, advocacy, support and self development opportunities for women and children during and after crisis from physical, emotional and sexual abuse
Kelowna Women's Shelter provides the following programs:
  • Emergency and Transitional Housing: Provides food and other essentials, counselling support, and help with transportation and childcare. The shelter includes eight comfortable bedrooms, a shared kitchen and living space, and plenty of outdoor space for you and your kids.
  • Second Stage Housing WISH (Women’s Interim Supportive Home): A home for women who have experienced relationship abuse and need a longer period of safe, supportive and affordable housing before transitioning into their own homes.
  • Outreach and Support: Outreach workers offer free, safe and confidential service for women who have experienced abuse in relationships, at the Kelowna Women’s Shelter or in a safe place in the community. Also offers drop-in support groups on Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons.
  • PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment) Program: This program is aimed at children & youth aged 3-18 who may have experienced family conflict, change or abuse. Kids learn: to identify and talk about feelings of fear, anger or sadness, to understand they are not responsible for problems within the family, healthy and appropriate forms of communication, problem-solving techniques and coping strategies.
  • Inside/Out Violence Prevention Program for Youth: Offers a violence prevention program for female and male children and youth that operates in schools and other community settings.
