The team at Maternity Care Westside provides breastfeeding support through a combination of education, social support and medical care, free of charge.
The Postpartum Clinic is open by appointment only, on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Lactation consultants and counselors will support you during this appointment(s), and are able to refer you to a midwife if necessary.
Lactation consultants and counselors are experts on breastfeeding. Lactation consultants have taken specific training and courses while counselors rely on a wealth of personal experience to support you and your family. Lactation counsellors will weigh the baby, track their weight gain, and make suggestions for any feeding concerns. They are available during the above postpartum clinic times. If you have a concern that they’re unable to address, the lactation counselor will refer you to our midwife.
