Family Support Services

Provided by Trail Family and Individual Resource (FAIR) Society

Free and individualized support for children and families in crisis or extra need of support. Also offers school workshops on communication and social skills for children.
Children’s Support Program: Services offer support, socialization and skill development for children from families in crisis or in need of extra support. Focus is on social and recreational activities in the community. Includes supervised visitation of parents with children when authorized by the Ministry of Family Development.

Family Support/Parent Education program: Offers individualized support and education for parents in order to enhance parenting skills and improve a family’s ability to cope.

Children’s Communication School Group: Focus on communication and social skills enhancing self-esteem, managing emotions, dealing with bullying and coping with change. Groups for children aged 6-12 are held at local Elementary Schools where the children have been referred by the administrative/teaching staff there.

Muffins and Munchkins: A free drop-in group open to children 0-5years and their parents/caregivers. It runs Wednesday mornings and pre-registration is not required.
