School Based Mental Health Services

Provided by ARC Programs

Provides services to children and youth with mental health challenges affecting their ability to function in the school setting.
Provides services to children and youth who may have a previous mental health diagnosis, are experiencing significant challenges coping with their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, or are experiencing mental health challenges that are affecting their ability to function in the school setting.

Services provided:
  • Individual and group counselling
  • Integrated case management
  • School-based liaison
  • Psychoeducation
  • Parent education and coaching
  • Referrals to other community services
How to access this service:
Referrals are generated by the school-based teams and come directly from the administration or school counsellors. High school students must be aware of the referral and consent to the school-based mental health counsellors services before they begin. Elementary school service begins following parental consent to their child’s involvement with our services.

  • Services can be moderate in duration and intensity, but may also include longer-term service for youth requiring more support
  • School-Based Mental Health Counsellors can offer assessment, individual and group counselling, integrated case management and consultation services
