Victim Services - Central Okanagan

Central Okanagan RCMP Victim Services provides services to victims of crime or trauma who may or may not have reported the crime to police or be involved with the criminal justice system.
All services offered by Central Okanagan RCMP Victim Services are free of charge. Victim Services provides confidentiality but has a duty to report to RCMP any information about a situation of unreported violence in relationships, child abuse, or danger to self or others upon disclosure.

If you are a victim of crime, British Columbia’s Victims of Crime Act gives you the right to receive information about:
  • Victim Services available to you
  • Crime Victim Assistance Program
  • How the criminal justice system works, the status of the police investigation, and court case
  • The administration of the offender’s sentence
  • Your rights to privacy
Victim Service workers are trained to provide assistance and support to victims and others whose lives have been impacted by crime or trauma. Services include:
  • Emotional Support
  • Practical Assistance
  • Public awareness and education
  • Information on the status of the police file
  • Information on the Criminal Justice System
  • Court Support including court orientation and accompaniment
  • Assistance with official forms, i.e. Crime Victims Assistance
  • Program (if eligible), Victim Impact Statements
  • Information on safety planning including home security and personal safety
  • Referrals to other agencies and services
  • Crisis intervention
