Family Support Program (Urban Family Preservation Prince George)

Provided by Carrier Sekani Family Services

Works with families who are involved, or at risk of involvement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), or who are seeking support and information on parenting, life skills, and self-help support.
The goal of the Family Support Program in Urban Prince George is to help clients acquire the skills and support they need to develop and strengthen family wellness. Support is provided in groups or in one-on-one interaction with skilled staff members. There is no charge for these programs. Family members do not have to have an open Family Support file to participate in any of the Family Support groups. Any Prince George and area families who wish to partake in the life skills programming are welcome.

The program provides a wide variety of hands-on training from a culturally relevant perspective in the areas of personal identity, child and parent attachment, parenting, effects of colonization, holistic wellness, goal setting, relationships, financial management, healthy lifestyles, relapse prevention, and more.

The program also assists families involved with Child Protection Services in navigating the Child Welfare System and in developing and implementing plans to address any concerns.
