Family Preservation and Maternal Child Health (On Reserve)

Provides services to families with children of all ages living on reserve in Sai'kuz, Nadleh Whut'en, Stellat'en, Takla, Yekooche, Lake Babine Nation, Burns Lake Band, Wet'suwet'en, Nee Tahi Buhn, Skin Tyee, and Cheslatta.
The Family Preservation and Maternal Child Health Program provide early childhood development programming and support to families who are considering having a family, families with young children, and families with older children. Some of the specific services provided are:
  • Advocacy and support for families so they know and understand their legal rights and due process when involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development
  • Support to set and achieve goals to address child protection concerns or life skills goals directed at family wellbeing
  • Referrals to other programs and resources which may be of benefit to meeting goals (such as counselling, treatment, health care needs, legal support, etc.)
  • Life skills and parenting education, one-on-one or in groups
  • Family events and support groups
  • Pre-natal, early childhood and ages and stages of development support and education

Provide early childhood development programming, based on the life-cycle model, providing support to families from preconception until a child in the home is 19 years of age or older..

Referral: Services are voluntary and free of charge to clients who fit within our mandate of service provision. Referrals can come from clients themselves and also from Social Workers, Medical Professionals, Legal Professionals, Child Care Providers, Teachers, Principals, Counsellors, Women's Shelters, or any other source.
