Provided by Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society

Provides various language, employment, tax, and education services.
The following programs and services are offered:
  • Language Instruction for New Canadians (LINC): They operate four English language instruction classes at eight levels to help immigrants to settle in Canada. LINC classes help students speak and understand English for day-to-day life, get job skills, learn about Canadian life, Aboriginal culture, laws, health care, and to obtain their language requirements for citizenship. The program includes volunteering in the community, and field-trips within the Okanagan Valley.
  • Downtown Education Project: Through this program, students who might otherwise experience difficulty accessing the UBCO campus are given the opportunity to overcome barriers to achieving a post-secondary education. Please note this program is currently not being offered.
  • Employment Services Program: Provides support for clients seeking employment, and skills-development, and upgrading. An application is required to access this program.
  • Disability Tax Aid: Assists people who have Persons With Disability (PWD) designation, and others with multiple barriers (PPMB), and low-income individuals with free tax preparation for up to 10 years back. Contact Reception to schedule an appointment with the Disability Tax Aid advocate.
