Highway of Tears Community Safety Toolkit

Provided by Carrier Sekani Family Services

Facilitated Community Safety Training in urban centres along Highway 16. Communities receive a resource toolkit to help educate about the potential dangers along the Highway of Tears.
Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) provides advocacy, and support for family members and friends who have lost loved ones to violence. In addition, CSFS provides prevention education to First Nations communities across Northern British Columbia. The training is provided to designated members of the First Nations communities, educational institutions, and community agencies along the Highway of Tear's corridor.

The Community Safety Toolkit accompanies two-day "train the trainer" sessions in the following municipalities: Prince George, Burns Lake, Fort St. James, Smithers, Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Williams Lake.

The Toolkit provides the following resources for adults and youth, most of which are available online. Click to download the PDF summary
