FASD Relief Funding

Provided by Carrier Sekani Family Services

Provides funding to support families with children affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is working with the Vancouver Foundation and the Ministry of Children and Family Development to distribute funds to families of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). This includes children and youth without official diagnoses.

The purpose of these grants is to support families with children experiencing the effects of FASD, to provide respite or relief needs in a wide variety of forms – including time away (funding for care), special events, groceries, physical and/or mental wellness supports, etc.

This low-barrier funding can be used for services and supports that best meet the family’s needs as caregivers. There are no restrictions for what the funding can be used for. Funding may be used to purchase respite care providers, overnight/sibling care, summer camps, community programs, recreational activities, groceries, etc. Unlike other grants, the FASD grant will not require complicated reporting like receipts, official diagnosis, doctor’s referral etc. Successful applicants will be selected by way of a randomized selection process.

Eligibility Families must meet these eligibility criteria in order to apply:
  • Families with children/youth between the ages of 0-19.
  • You are applying on behalf of a child with FASD (or a child who is suspected to have FASD)
  • Families must reside in British Columbia

Applications will be accepted two ways: Online and phone.
