Provides indoor and outdoor recreational and cultural opportunities for First Nation communities in West Kelowna
Programs and services include:
  • Art group drop-in - Inspiration weekly: Includes painting, beading, drawing, creating, crafting and expressing with art. Service is open to Westbank First Nation (WFN) members, staff, and community. It also provides learning opportunities for violence prevention and healing while participating in different art activities. Meetings are held on Thursdays. Lunch, activities, and supplies are provided.

  • Basic Hunting Skills: Provides opportunities to learn hunting skills, patience, gutting, skinning, butchering, gun safety, traditional teachings when hunting, how to make a fire and hunting stories, etc. The service is offered from October to November

  • Boot Camp: A certified personal trainer teaches a basic beginner level-advanced boot camp for all ages. It is advisable to get your physician’s approval before you start any fitness program.
  • Cost: $2 fee available in $10 and $20 punch cards for WFN residents and at no cost for WFN Members

  • Concerts and Rockets game tickets: Members may enter regular draws to win tickets to Rockets hockey games, concerts, and other events at Prospera Place. There are 10 tickets available for each game, concert, and event. To enter to draw, contact Membership Services
  • Conditions:
    • Names will be entered into a draw for each game unless the number of requests is less than 10
    • Two tickets per Member per game
    • Only put your name in the draw if you will and can attend
    • Hockey game tickets are drawn 3-4 days in advance of the game
    • Events & Concerts are drawn 5-7 days in advance of the show
    • Drop-in basketball, volleyball, and racquetball: All WFN residents have access to the gymnasium to practice technique, play games, or shoot some hoops. Please contact the recreation department for more information

    • Gymnasium and weight room: The gymnasium and weight room are open to all Westbank First Nation residents. During the school year, Sensisyusten has priority in the gymnasium. The meeting times are Mondays to Fridays.
      Equipment: Weight room: 1 treadmill, 1 spin bike, 2 ellipticals, multi-station cable machines, 2 squat racks, 1 let press, dumbbells. Gymnasium: Volleyballs and nets, basketballs, soccer balls and nets, badminton and nets, lacrosse equipment

    • Horse back riding services: This program enables members interested in riding and horsemanship to obtain lessons. Contact Membership Services for more information

    • Learn to run: Join the WFN Team and train to participate in Canada's biggest starting line at the Annual Vancouver Sun Run. All running levels welcome! Open to all WFN members, community, and staff. Perks include fun, fact-filled nutrition workshops every other Wednesday and health, to-go lunches to take with you after each session. Participants are responsible for their own transportation, food, and accommodations. To register, contact the Recreation Department

    • Nike N7 Active Challenge: The Nike N7 challenge is a program that enables WFN members to earn rewards in the form of Nike products by participating in qualifying WFN recreational activities, including: Yoga, Boot Camp, Weight Room, Youth Fitness, Elder's Walking Group, Elders Fitness, Learn to Walk/Run, Fitbit Log Sheets, Archery, WFN Gym Practices

    • Snow Shoeing: The youth and recreation department has nine snowshoes that can be borrowed on a first-come-first-served basis. Protein bars and water will be provided

    • Yoga: Provides programs that help balance the body, calm the mind, and connect with the spirit. Yoga programs will vary throughout the year, and dates and times vary. Please contact membership services for more information
