Family Services

Provided by Kelowna Community Resources (KCR)

Providing family services to those living in the Okanagan area
Provides the following resources and programs:
  • Adoption Centre of BC: Works with both prospective adoptive parents and birth parents throughout the province of British Columbia.

  • The Supports and Networking for Adoption and Permanency Planning Program (SNAPP): Prepares and supports children who are in provincial government care to go through the permanent adoption process. It also provides support, information, and education to foster parents through the process. Serves the Central Okanagan (Kelowna, Lake Country, Okanagan Centre, Oyama, Peachland, Rutland, West Kelowna, and Winfield). This program is founded on the belief that all children need and deserve the opportunity to grow up in a family that can provide them with permanence and an unconditional, life-long commitment.

  • The Central Okanagan Family Hub: Is a one-stop-shop for supports and services for families. It is a welcoming second home for families to connect with each other and to community supports. Offers free information, referral, and support services related to child development, early learning programs, and child care to parents in the Central Okanagan (Kelowna, Lake Country, Okanagan Centre, Oyama, Peachland, Rutland, West Kelowna, and Winfield). Also works with early childhood service providers to plan and deliver a more accessible, responsive, and coordinated range of services for families with children from birth up to age six.

  • The Family Friend Program: Connects single parents with a screened, trained, competent family friend for friendship, support, mentoring and connection to community resources.

  • Kids Count Program: A family-centered, strength-based, home visiting program to promote positive parent/child interaction for first-time parents referred through a Public Health Nurse.
