Employment, Immigrant and Refugee Services, Services for Seniors, and Services for Youth

Specialized immigration and settlement programs and aid for those in the Okanagan Area.
The KCR offers the following programs and resource outreach:

Settlement & Integration Services:
  • Volunteer Friendship For Newcomers: is designed to match adult community residents with newcomers, helping them to learn how to live in Canada, integrate to the community and provide an opportunity to practice English.
  • Youth Peer Support: will provide support and friendship for immigrant youth and offer opportunities to integrate the community.
  • Employment Mentors: will offer informal advice, connections, moral support and network opportunities to internationally trained professionals.
  • Seniors Outreach: will provide social and learning opportunities for immigrant seniors in conjunction with non-immigrant seniors aged 55 years or older.

Employment Support: Our labour market specialist provides employment support and assists with job search, resume/cover letter preparation, and interviewing skills.

Translation Services: Providing participants with the high-quality interpretation and translation services in over 30 languages. We also arrange certified translation upon request.

Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership: The Central Okanagan LIP is driven by a Council of community stakeholders whose aims are to support newcomer settlement and integration through local community engagement and collaboration.

Refugee Response Team: A series of short video interviews with Syrian Refugees who have come to the Thompson Okanagan in the past year. It reflects the importance of being social to Syrians and acts as an invitation to get to know our new neighbours.

Workshops & Training: Provides an overview of BC Society, introduces newcomers to BC and community services, assists immigrants to obtain skills related to social connections, knowledge and life skills.
